For this episode, I was given unprecedented access to explore a Navy Destroyer. I call this kind of episode a "cooking show" because first we see how something is made, and then—like watching Paula Deen pull a perfectly baked pie out of the oven—we see the finished product. In this case, I got to check out the Destroyer as a work-in-progress in Bath, Maine, where the complex machines are put together by some of the most skilled shipbuilders in the world. Then I went aboard the finished product, the USS Donald Cook. Now I′m not saying it wasn′t cool to watch a Destroyer being built, but as far as experiences go, it didn′t compare to getting behind the wheel of one of those bad boys. I know it′s a state-of-the-art, top-security, multi-billion-dollar warship, but man, was it fun to drive.
