I've been fascinated by architecture ever since I first realized you could experience a moment in history by walking through a building and using a little knowledge and imagination. I was ___, and the building was ____ . As an architect it is now my job to take a head-spinning number of factors and create a working building. As a teacher and television host and speaker I investigate, consider, praise, critique, and above all try to explain the buildings other people have created. Make the information hidden in a building accessible to everyone. What were the problems they were trying to solve? What choices did they make? How did they get it so beautifully right-or so horribly wrong?
